CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The UNI swimming and diving team will open the 2025-26 dual schedule on Friday as it makes the short journey to Iowa City to take on the Iowa Hawkeyes at the Campus Wellness and Recreation Center.
Action is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. CT with the diving portion of the meet being livestreamed on YouTube, with live results also available on the Meet Mobile app and Dive Meets.
Northern Iowa will be in search of only its second dual victory against the Hawkeyes in program history, which came back in October 2021 in Iowa City. Iowa bested the Panthers in their previous meeting last fall in Cedar Falls by a score of 173-127. Head coach Nick Lakin, who enters his ninth season at the helm of the UNI program, is UNI's all-time leader in dual wins with 58.
Friday's dual comes a week after the Panthers opened their 2025-26 season at home with their annual Purple and Gold Intrasquad meet, a meet that saw the Purple Team escape with a narrow 123-118 win.
UNI returns a number of skilled athletes from last year's roster, including All-Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) performers Morgan Meyer and Abby Lear, both a part of the 200-yard freestyle relay team from last year that placed first at the MVC Championships. Meyer also placed sixth in the 200-yard freestyle for Northern Iowa at the meet as well.
In the diving well, the Panthers return four core divers, including All-MVC Honorable Mention performers Avery Hogan, Trista Thompson and Erica Peters, the latter of whom competed at NCAA Diving Zones. Sophomore Natalie Devoll returns for UNI with the addition of freshmen Addison Bausman and Eva Coonrad.
Other key returners include Sydney Aird, Abigail Barkhurst, Crystal Benjamin, Jenna Breitbach, Aspen Cole, Natalie Harris, Molly Johnson, Sam Oeltjen, Josie Parton, Peyton Pasqualicchio, Cali Prochaska, Rachel Rolow, Paige Seehawer, and Nikki Walters.
UNI also adds 12 new faces to the program, including swimmers Jennifer Barajas, Averie Bilskemper, Sabra Brueggen, Julia Eastman, Neriah Giedrys, Natalie Kuboushek, Cassidy Miklos, Ceci Nicholson, Morgan Raether, Charlotte Sander, Kirsten Tarran, and Athieno Wandera.
UNI swimming and diving action can be followed all season long on social media on Facebook (UNI Swimming and Diving), X (@uniswimdive) and on Instagram (@uniswimdive). Schedules and rosters, along with the latest Panther news and information can be found online at UNIpanthers.com.
