Panther swim & dive falls at Iowa in season opening dual

IOWA CITY, Iowa — The UNI swimming and diving team kicked off the dual portion of its 2025-26 season on Friday, falling to the Hawkeyes by a score of 224-74 at the Campus Wellness and Recreation Center.
In the 200-yard freestyle, three Panthers finished in the top-five with Morgan Meyer clinching third (1:53.77), Molly Johnson fourth (2:00.14) and Natalie Kuboushek fifth (2:00.32). Morgan Raether claimed third in the 100-yard backstroke (58.27) as Elyse Brayton followed in fourth (58.29). Neriah Giedrys placed fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.26), while Aspen Cole grabbed fifth with a time of 1:09.06.
Coming in second in the 200-yard butterfly was Sam Oeltjen at 2:10.78, while teammate Nikki Walters followed closely behind in fourth (2:12.41). Charlotte Sander posted a top-five finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.21 for fourth, while Abby Lear came right behind in fifth at 24.28.
Meyer saw success again in the 100-yard freestyle as she took home third place in the event with a time of 52.76, with Averie Bilskemper in fourth (54.10) and Kuboushek in fifth (55.59). The 200-yard backstroke saw Brayton and Raether come neck-and-neck in fourth and fifth with times of 2:08.67 and 2:08.82 respectively. With a time of 2:31.05, Cole found fourth in the 200-yard breaststroke as Sydney Aird was right on her tail in fifth at 2:31.07.
In the 500-yard freestyle, Oeltjen finished in fifth for the Panthers with a time of 5:21.47. Nedder finished in second for Northern Iowa in the 100-yard butterfly at 58.47, with Walters in third (59.34), Natalie Harris in fourth (1:01.06) and freshman Julia Eastman in fifth (1:02.32). Johnson took second in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:14.92, with Harris following in third (2:15.07), Walters in fourth (2:15.68), and Brayton in fifth (2:15.81).
Closing out the night for swimming was the 400-yard freestyle relay that saw the team of Lear, Meyer, Raether and Nedder secure second place with a time of 3:32.99, while the squad of Bilskemper, Jennifer Barajas, Kuboushek and Sander followed behind in third with a time of 3:39.78.
In the diving well, junior Avery Hogan took third place in the three-meter diving competition for UNI with a score of 268.25, with freshman Addison Bausman earning fifth (239.35). Over on the one-meter boards, Hogan came in fourth for the Panthers with a score of 237.45, followed by senior Erica Peters in fifth (233.65).

The Panthers will travel to Vermillion, South Dakota, for the Coyote Extravaganza, set to be held Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 the USD Wellness Center. The two-day meet will feature duals against Sioux Falls, St. Cloud State, South Dakota State and South Dakota.
