Panther swim and dive racks up multiple top-ten times at Hawkeye Invitational

UNI tallied seven top-ten marks in Iowa City.
IOWA CITY, Iowa – UNI swimming and diving saw multiple top-ten times swam in program history in Iowa City at the Hawkeye Invitational, held at Iowa's Campus Wellness-Recreation Center.
The Panthers started things off on Tuesday night with the 200-yard medley relay finals that saw Elyse Brayton, Neriah Giedrys, Hannah Nedder, and Abby Lear take 21st with a time of 1:43.73 as Morgan Raether, Averie Bilskemper, Nikki Walters, and Charlotte Sander placed 24th (1:44.53). The quartet of Sabra Brueggen, Aspen Cole, Natalie Harris, and Molly Johnson took 27th at 1:46.53, as Rachel Rolow, Sydney Aird, Crystal Benjamin, and Josie Parton took 29th at 1:49.35, respectively.
Rounding out the first night of competition was the 800-yard freestyle relay, in which Morgan Meyer, Bilskemper, Harris, and Jennirfer Barajas secured an 18th-place finish with a time of 7:34.06, as Sam Oeltjen, Natalie Kuboushek, Abigail Barkhurst, and Peyton Pasqualicchio placed 21st (7:43.56). Johnson, Cassidy Miklos, Kirsten, and Julia Eastman were right behind in 22nd with a time of 7:48.89.
Wednesday opened with the 200-yard individual medley preliminary heats, which saw Brayton advance to the finals with a 32nd-place finish. Brayton swam a time of 2:05.81 in the finals to claim 26th and move herself into eighth in the top-ten all-time list for UNI.
Action continued with the 50-freestyle prelims that saw Lear, Sander, Raether, and Meyer all advance to the finals. Sander and Lear would finish 15th and 16th with times of 23.17 and 23.38, putting Sander at fifth on the top ten all-time list. Raether finished in 19th (23.29), notching her seventh all-time in UNI history, as Meyer finished in 24th (23.49).
The second night of competition ended with the 200-yard freestyle relay, in which UNI saw a fifth-place finish with the team of Sander, Lear, Meyer, and Raether (1:31.58). Bilskemper, Nedder, Brayton, and Johnson claimed 21st with a time of 1:35.46, respectively.
Walters made her way into the top ten all-time list for the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 56.54, as Nedder finished the event in 31st with a time of 56.59. The 400-yard individual medley saw Oeltjen place 25th at 4:27.14, while Walters, Barkhurst, and Johnson took 30th, 31st, and 32nd with times of 4:35.34, 4:38.33, and 4:39.96.
Meyer qualified for finals in the 200-yard free, where she placed 13th with a time of 1:50.00. Giedrys and Cole placed 31st and 32nd in the 100-yard breaststroke with times of 1:04.92 and 1:05.25, which moved them into the top ten all-time list at eighth and tenth.
In the 100-yard backstroke finals, Raether took 12th at 55.32, moving her to fourth all-time for UNI, as Brayton also placed 21st (55.83). Thursday's finals ended with the 400-yard medley relay in which Raether, Giedrys, Walters, and Meyer claimed 11th with a time of 3:45.03.
Friday finals started off with the 1,650-yard freestyle, where Barkhurst placed 26th at 17.33.25, as Miklos was in 28th (17.41.04), Kuboushek in 30th (17.55.99), and Tarran in 32nd (18.03.71). Raether notched a time of 1:59.29 to take 13th in the 200-yard backstroke as Brayton claimed 27th at 2:02.52.
Meyer saw success in the 100-yard freestyle finals as she placed 15th with a time of 50.62, as Sander secured 31st at 52.01. Aird, Cole, and Giedrys placed 28th, 30th, and 31st in the 200-yard breaststroke with times of 2:23.36, 2:23.85, and 2:24.13.
Oeltjen claimed 20th in the 200-yard butterfly at 2:04.85, as Walters followed shortly behind in 28th at 2:08.06. The 400-yard freestyle relay closed out the competition, and the UNI team of Lear, Meyer, Sander, and Bilskemper took eighth with a time of 3:22.88.
Over in the diving well, Addison Bausman scored 178.35 in the one-meter, as Eva Coonrad had a 177.75, Natalie Devoll at a 187.20, Erica Peters at 234.15, Avery Hogan with a 229.15, and Trista Thompson recording a 212.60 in the event. In the three-meter portion, Bausman scored a 218.55, as Coonrad had a 189.35. Devoll notched a 207.80, while Peters scored a 242.35, and Hogan was close behind with a 242.10, and Thompson with a 239.30 in the event.
Peters and Thompson also competed in the platform portion of the diving competition, as Peters scored a 170.30 and Thompson with a 162.15.
