
UNI track and field opens KT Woodman Classic competition on Friday

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The UNI track and field teams head to Wichita State for the KT Woodman Classic, a two-day event starting Friday.Â
Panther relays and individuals sit in the top-10 in 34 events among competitors set to participate this weekend. UNI opened the outdoor season last weekend and set conference-best marks in five events.Â
Isaiah Trousil currently leads the conference in the 100-meter dash. He has the second-best seeded time for 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash, both set to run Saturday.Â
Katie Nimrod holds the best 400-meter hurdle time in the conference. She ran a personal best in the opening weekend of outdoor competition last weekend and is seeded fourth at the upcoming meet. Teammate Anna Winderrowd is seeded seventh.
Darius King set a personal best in the discus last weekend to lead the conference, but he is not expected to compete in that event this weekend. He is seeded first in the shot put and seventh in the hammer throw for the KT Woodman Classic.Â
Both the men and women's 4x100 relay teams top the conference performance list. The women's team is seeded second this weekend, and the men's team holds the fifth-fastest seed for this weekend.Â
Mia Rampton holds the top seed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.Â
Panthers hold seven spots in the top-10 for the men's and women's 800-meter runs. On the men's side, Drake Hanson, Seb Gearhart, Chase Knoche and Ben Daumueller are seeded second, fourth, ninth and 10th. On the women's side, Sophia Jungling is seeded second and teammates Sydney Schaffer and Paige Holub are seeded ninth and 10th.Â
