UNI track and field takes 5 titles at the USD Early Bird

VERMILLION, S.D. - The UNI track and field teams swept the 4x400 titles on both the men's and women's side and earned three more titles at the USD Early Bird.
The Panthers opened their outdoor track and field season at South Dakota University.
Michael Santi, Parker Kiewiet, Isaiah Trousil and Tayshaun Cooper combined to win the 4x100. Trousil and Cooper returned to take first and third in the 100-meter dash.
Cooper wrapped up the day with a win as part of the 4x400 relay team with Drew Bartels, Craig Becker and Seb Gearhart. Blair Brooks picked up a gold in the men's long jump with a leap of 7.35 meters. Gearhart took second in the 1,500-meter run.
On the women's side, Jill Bennett, Emily Vos, Auriona Kimbrough and Paishence Johnson combined to win the 4x400 in 3 minutes, 52.76 seconds. The women's 4x100 relay team of Bennett, Johnson, Rylan Santi and Libby Wedewer took second in a time of 45.93.
