Swimming and Diving Remain Unbeaten at Home

CEDAR FALLS---The University of Northern Iowa women's swimming and diving team defeated the Illinois State Redbird, 192-108.

The Panthers nabbed first place in the first four events of the evening. The 200 medley relay time of Katie Taylor, Autumn Roepsch, Crystal Florman and Molly Lembezeder nabbed a time of one minute, forty-six second and .69 hundredths of a second.

The 400 freestyle relay team of Lembezeder, Florman, Roepsch and Aftin Phyfe swam to first place, timing in at 3:36.

Kylie Engstrom would grab first place in the 1000 freestyle, timing in at 10:40.20. Engstrom nabbed first place in the 500 freestyle as well, swimming to a time of 5:14.22. Â

Rachel Siebenaller had an exciting finish in the 200 freestyle, edging out her opponent by less than a second. Siebenaller finished in first place with a time of 1:56.98.

Taylor continued to add to her first place finishes, nabbing first in the 100 backstroke. Taylor swam to a time of 57.34. Taylor would nab first in the 200 backstroke, timing in at 2:03.14. In the 200 IM, Taylor would nab first place again, timing in at 2:08:19.

Lembezeder and Roepsch went first and second in the 50 freestyle.

Lembezeder would grab first in the 100 freestyle, timing in at 52.89.

Florman would swim to a first place finish in the 100 butterfly, finishing at 59.36. Florman would grab second in the 100 freestyle, timing in at 53.67.

Roepsch would nab second place in the 100 breaststroke, timing in 1:07.13.

Jackson would swim into second place in the 200 butterfly, timing in at 2:10.16. Kelsey Ostrowski followed in third place at 2:12.65.

Ostrowski would grab third place in the 100 butterfly, swimming a 1:01.03.

Herrmann and Moriah Ross would swim to second and third places in the 200 breaststroke. Herrmann timed in at 2:25.60 and Ross at 2:27.17.

Stephanie Jackson nabbed third place in the 1000 freestyle, timing in at 10:54.57.

Jordan McCullough followed teammate Siebenaller in the 200 freestyle, timing in at 1:59.92 for third place. McCullough would swim into third place in the 500 freestyle as well, swimming in at 5:22.13.

Madison Rinaldi grabbed fourth place in the 100 backstroke, timing in at 59.89. Rinaldi would nab fourth in the 200 backstroke, swimming to a time of 2:10.06.

"It was a great win for our seniors," commented head coach Doug Humphrey. "It is a definite advantage at home. Our fans give energy for our girls to feed off us and allow us to continue winning at home.

Diving
Â
In diving action, Alyssa Deuso led the Panthers in the 1-meter competition. Deuso dived a new personal best, scoring 244.79. Hannah Brummel followed in second place, diving a 229.80. Emma Billerbeck nabbed fourth at 197.32. In 3-meter diving, Brummel led the Panthers, diving a 237.82. Deuso grabbed second place at 235.49. Billerbeck rounded the Panthers out in third place with a dive score of 216.07.
