AMES, Iowa--The University of Northern Iowa fell to in-state rivals Iowa State, 188 to 110.

Katie Taylor nabbed two first place finishes in the 200 IM and 200 backstroke events. Taylor swam a time of two minutes, seven seconds and .17 hundredths of a second in the 200 IM. Taylor timed in at 2:02.98 in the 200 backstroke. In an exciting 100 backstroke race, Taylor was just shy of first place, timing in at 57.22. Kasey Roberts of Iowa State took first with a time of 57.18.

Molly Lembezeder nabbed first in the 100 freestyle, swimming a 52.48 in the event.
Â
Crystal Florman would be the final Panther to nab an individual first place finish. Florman swam to first in the 100 butterfly, timing in at 59.18.

Veronica Herrmann led the Panthers in the 100 breaststroke, nabbing second place at 1:06.46. Moriah Ross and Autumn Roepsch would follow in third and fourth, with times of 1:07.01 and 1:07.29 respectively.

Kelsey Ostrowski swam into second in the 200 butterfly, timing in at 2:11.54. Ostrowski competed in the 100 butterfly and swam to fifth place, timing in at 1:01.30 in that race.

Taylor, Roepsch, Florman and Lembezeder would team up for second place in the 200 medley relay, timing in at 1:46.58.

Lembezeder, Florman, and Roepsch would meet Aftin Phyfe and grab second place in the 400 freestyle relay, swimming a 3:33.25.

Lembezeder and Roepsch would nab third and fifth places in the 50 freestyle. Lembezeder swam a 24.39 and Roepsch a 25.33.

Kylie Engstrom led the way in both distance events for the Panthers. Engstrom swam into third in the 500 freestyle, timing in at 5.17.43. Engstrom nabbed fourth in the 1000 freestyle, timing in at 10.47.79.

Rachel Siebenaller nabbed fourth in the 200 freestyle, timing in at 1:58.09. Jordan McCullough was close behind at 1:58.43 and fifth place.
"We continued to get better and put together really good performances," commented head coach Doug Humphrey.Â

In diving competition, junior Hannah Brummel led the Panthers in second place on the 1-meter diving competition, scoring a 228.50. Alyssa Deuso finished in third place, diving a 219.15 and Emma Billerbeck got fourth, with a dive score of 199.95. Brummel would lead the Panthers in 3-meter competition in third place, scoring a 236.50. Deuso dove a 234.75 for fourth place. Emma Billerbeck rounded out the Panthers, scoring a 185.80.

The Panthers will compete in their final regular season meet next Friday, February 3 at 6 p.m. UNI will face off against Iowa and Western Illinois at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center Natatorium on the University of Iowa's campus.
