Panthers Head to Ames for in-state Dual Meet

CEDAR FALLS--The University of Northern Iowa women's swimming and diving team heads to Iowa State for an in-state dual meet on Saturday, January 28. Action is slated to begin at 1 p.m. in the Beyer Pool with free admission.

UNI holds a 6-1 record in dual competitions this season, with a 1-1 record on the road.

The Iowa State Cyclones and UNI have meet in 30 previous dual meets and met earlier this season at the Kansas Classic in November. UNI placed fourth at that event with 404 points, with Iowa State at 520.5 points for third place.

The Panthers hosted senior day on January 20th, with an impressive win over the Illinois State Redbirds. The Panthers started the evening off strong, nabbing first place finishes in multiple events.

MVC Swimmer of the Week, Katie Taylor nabbed first place with Autumn Roepsch, Crystal Florman and Molly Lembezeder in the 200 medley relay, timing in at 1:46.69. Taylor swam to a time of 57.34 in the 100 backstroke for first place before nabbing first in the 200 backstroke, timing in at 2:03.14. In the 200 IM, Taylor would nab first place again, timing in at 2:08:19.

In diving action, Alyssa Deuso snatched a new personal best in 1-meter competition, diving a 244.79 and receiving first place. Hannah Brummel received first place in the 3-meter competition, scoring a 237.82.
