ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The University of Northern Iowa track and field program was honored today with 15 student-athletes being named to the 2015 Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete team.
UNI landed 10 women and five men to the list after a successful outing at the MVC Outdoor Championships. UNI also finished the meet with 18 athletes earning all-conference in 12 events and three relays between the men's and women's teams.
Fifty-eight men and 59 women were named to this year's MVC Scholar-Athlete team. The honor is given to student-athletes who have maintained at least a 3.2 GPA, are at least a sophomore in academic and athletic standing, and placed in the top eight at the indoor or outdoor championships.
On the men's side, senior Cam Brown got his third consecutive Scholar-Athlete nod after graduating with a degree in Movement and Exercise Science this spring. Weston Riesselman was also a repeat honoree on the Scholar-Athlete team for the men's program.
For the women, UNI had several repeat selections, with Jamie Lindstrom earning her third straight spot on the list of distinguished athletes. Maddie Beeler and Libby Torresani also received recognition last season.
The Panthers return to action on the track next week when a select group of athletes will participate in the NCAA West Regional in Austin, Texas May 28-30.
