CEDAR FALLS, Iowa ---Â The UNI cross country team will begin its 2025 season in Ames Friday morning for the annual Cyclone Preview meet.Â
Competition is slated to begin at 8:30 a.m. CT with the men's six-kilometer race, followed by the women's five-kilometer competition at 9 a.m. CT. Joining the Panthers on the ISU Cross Country Course will be the Iowa State Cyclones, along with the Drake Bulldogs.
The Northern Iowa men return ten athletes from the 2024 roster that finished seventh in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Championships. Key returners include seniors Jayden Dickson and Kon Dut, along with juniors Caleb Kass, Carson Owens, Chase Lauman, Drew Dombrosky, and Josh Gormley. The men also return a trio of sophomores in Colin Lillie, Jack Bergman, and Micah Rees, along with redshirt freshman Brayden Picken, and newcomers Ethan Olds and Jonas VanDis.Â
The Panther women return nine athletes from the 2024 roster that finished fifth at the MVC Championships, with seniors Melody Ochana and Amelia Hill leading the way. Other key returners include Brooke O'Brien, Eden Mueller, Kaylee Woolery, Leah Klapatauskas, Kaylin Lacher, Megan Wheatley, Clare Wright, and Kayla Young. The Panthers added five new athletes in 2025 in Sarah Feddersen, Evie Henneberry, Kendra Nissen, Josee Simonson, and Lindsey Sonderman.Â
