UNI cross country: Lillie and Hill lead Panther pack at Cyclone Preview

AMES, Iowa — The UNI cross country team kicked off the 2025 season on Friday morning, competing at Iowa State's Cyclone Preview at the ISU Cross Country Course.
Sophomore Colin Lillie led the way for Panther men in the six-kilometer race with a career best time of 18:33 and a 14th place finish. Micah Rees followed in 16th place with a career best time of 18:38. In his collegiate debut Ethan Olds placed 20th with a time of 18:58, followed closely by Drew Dombrosky in 23rd with a new career best time of 19:03.
Jack Bergman took 30th place with a time of 19:24, followed by Jonas VanDis in 31st in his collegiate debut (19:27), followed by Josh Gormley with a career best time in 32nd (19:31) and Brayden Picken in 33rd (19:36). Kon Dut finished in 44th in 20:35, with Jayden Dickson rounding out the UNI field in 46th with a time of 20:49.
Senior Amelia Hill led the way for the Panther women in the five-kilometer race, finishing ninth with a time of 17:35, the seventh fastest 5K time in program history. Leah Klapatauskas followed closely behind, finishing tenth with a career best time of 17:45, while Meghan Wheatley also clocked with a time of 17:45 to take 11th.
Kaylee Woolery finished in 15th with a career best time of 18:17, followed by Sarah Feddersen finishing in 16th in 18:25. Evie Henneberry placed 18th in her first collegiate race with a time of 18:28. Brooke O'Brien finished 21st with a career best time of 18:30. Rounding out the Panther women in 23rd was Josee Simonson with a time of 18:40, with Clare Wright in 24th with a career best time of 18:45 and Kayla Young in 25th with a time of 19:10.
UP NEXT
The Panthers return to action on Friday, Sept. 13 at the Redbird Invite. Competition will begin at 11 a.m. CT at D.A. Weibring Golf Course in Normal, Illinois.
