CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — Coming off of a women's second-place team finish and a men's third-place team finish, the UNI cross country team returns to the course once again on Friday morning in Columbia, Missouri for the Gans Creek Classic, hosted by the University of Missouri.
ÂThe men's eight-kilometer race will begin at 8 a.m. CT at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course, followed by the run of the women's six-kilometer at 8:45 a.m. CT.
ÂAt the Redbird Invite two weeks ago, four Panther women achieved career-best times in the 6K race. Emma Hoins, who finished as the individual runner-up, set a career-best time as she crossed the finish line in 21:35, earning MVC Runner of the Week honors. Also setting career-best times were Eden Mueller in 12th place (22:24), Brooke O'Brien in 20th place (22:55), and Lauren Klein in 34th place (23:43). Making their 6K debut during this competition were Amelia Hill, who crossed the finish line in seventh place (22:03), Melody Ochana in ninth place (22:18), Leah Klapatasukas in 14th place (22:34), and Clare Wright in 23rd place (23:12).
ÂOn the men's side, three individuals clocked career-best times in the 8K included Caleb Shumaker, who finished in fifth place with a time of 24:38, as well as Carson Owens, who clocked his time in at 25:02 with an 11th place finish and Caleb Kass, who finished in 38th place in 26:42. Making their 8K debut at the Redbird Invite were Micah Rees in 20th place (25:33), Jack Bergman in 26th place (26:08), and Levi Hill in 29th place(26:14).
