CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- The UNI cross country team returns to action on Friday morning as the Panthers compete at the NCAA Midwest Regional at OSU Cross Country Course in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Action is slated to begin at 9 a.m. CT with the women's six-kilometer race, followed by the men at 10 a.m. CT with the ten-kilometer race.
The Panthers are in a crowded field with runners from thirty-eight different programs from around the region. Iowa State and Oklahoma State come into the meet ranked as the top two teams for both the men's side and the women's. UNI will also join Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) foes Bradley, Drake, Illinois State, UIC and Southern Illinois on the course.
The Panther women are coming off a fifth place finish at the MVC Championships in Evansville two weeks ago. Freshman Lindsey Sonderman led the pack in the 6K with 16th place finish (21:32), followed by Amelia Hill in 19th (21:39), and Melody Ochana in 24th (21:52).
On the men's side, Colin Lillie led the Panthers in the open 8K race and a 11th place team effort. Freshman Ethan Olds followed in 23rd in a time of 25:16, followed by Micah Rees in 48th (25:47), and Drew Dembrosky in 59th (26:07).
