Panther golf notches top-five team finishes at Murray State, Kansas State tournaments

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- UNI's Anna Jensen and JD Pollard led their respective teams with top-ten individual finishes on Tuesday as the Panther women wrapped up play at Murray State's The Velvet and the UNI men's concluded action at Kansas State's Wildcat Invitational.
On the women's side, the Panther ladies took fourth place in the 16-team field playing at the Country Club of Paducah in western Kentucky, with Austin Peay capturing the team title. The UNI men finished in fifth-place at the Colbert Hills Country Club in Manhattan, Kansas in the 15-team competition, with Kansas State's "A team" topping the team standings.
Jensen led the Panthers on the links, finishing in a three-way tie for fifth place in Paducah, carding a 72 (E) in both the first and second rounds and ultimately finishing with a final score of 226 (+10) with eight birdies. Redshirt senior Victoria Hualde finished in a tie for 13th place with a 231 (+15) with 12 pars and three birdies, while Anna Nacos finished in a three-way tie for 17th place with a 234 (+18), shooting a 78 (+6) in the final round.
Rylie Driskell finished tied for 47th place after carding an 81 in round one and finishing with a score of 245 (+29). Freshman Isabella Pettersen concluded her second collegiate tournament in a tie for 77th place, finishing with a final score of 257 (+41).
Pollard led all Panther men in Manhattan with a tie for eighth-place, shooting a final score of 217 (+1) with ten birdies. Junior Calen Bishop finished in a three-way tie for 22nd with a 223 (+7), shooting a 70 in Tuesday's final round to wrap his second collegiate tournament. Playing a consistent three rounds on Monday and Tuesday, Tanner Dinnebier shot an even par in the first two rounds, followed by a 75 in the third round to finish with a 227 (+11).
Nile Petersen meanwhile finished in a three-way tie for 61st place, shooting a final score of 237 (+21) with 14 pars, while Cooper Hanson placed 64th in a tie with a score of 239 (+23) and sank seven birdies.
UP NEXT
The UNI men's team returns to action next Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 23-24 at the Glen Oaks Country Club in West Des Moines for the Zach Johnson Invitational, hosted by Drake University.
The Panther ladies meanwhile return to the golf course, Sept. 30-Oct. 1 for the Diane Thomason Invitational, hosted by the University of Iowa at the Finkbine Golf Course in Iowa City.
