Bishop, Jensen lead Panther golfers in first meets of October

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- UNI newcomer Calen Bishop and senior Anna Jensen both led the way for both the Panther men's and women's golf teams as both squads wrapped up play at the Tommie Invitational and Diane Thomason Invite respectively on Tuesday afternoon.
The UNI men placed third in the eight-team field at the Stone Ridge Golf Course in Stillwater, Minnesota, while the Panther won took 13th out of 15 teams at Iowa City's Finkbine Golf Course.
Northern Iowa put on a strong showing on the men's side with both Bishop and Connor Van Weelden tying for second place individually with final scores of 217 (+1). Bishop sank nine birdies over the course of the two day, three round event, as well as an eagle on the eighth hole during Monday's second round with a season-low round of 69, while Van Weelden shot six birdies and two eagles.
JD Pollard finished in a five-way tie for 26th place with a score of 228 (+12) with five birdies, as Tanner Dinnebier tied for 43rd with a 234 (+18), Jack Moody in 48th as an individual with a 235 (+19) and Brock Seiser tying for 55th place after carding a 241 (+25).
Jensen led the UNI women for a third straight tournament this fall in a tie for 35th place, shooting a final score of 235 (+19), including a 77 in her first round of action on Monday. Victoria Hualde ended her tournament in a five-way tie for 37th place after shooting a 236 (+20) with five made birdies, followed by Addison Berg in a tie for 68th with a 247 (+31).
Rylie Driskell finished in a three-way tie for 71st place after carding a 248 (+32) and shooting her best score of the tournament in the second round with a 76 (+4). Anna Nacos placed 81st scoring a 255 (+39), shooting even par on 23 holes with one birdie.

The Panther ladies return to the links Oct. 6-7 in Bartonville, Illinois for the Coyote Creek Classic, hosted by Bradley University at the Coyote Creek Golf Club. The UNI men's team returns to the course for its final tournament of the fall season, Oct. 7-9 at South Dakota's Throwdown Up Top at the Landmand Golf Club in Homer, Neb.
