POSITIONAL DESCRIPTIONS
COMMUNICATIONS
Reports To: Assistant Athletics Director for Communication and/or Assistant Athletic Communications Director
General Description of Position:
- Assist UNI’s Athletic Communication staff in media relations, social media, stat management, record keeping and more.
- Work alongside marketing and creative content teams to promote the Panthers’ 15 varsity sponsored programs.
- Develop real-world skills and experiences that can be transferred into professional and college athletics, as well as non-athletic settings.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be enrolled at UNI for the time in which they are on staff.
- Must be able to work assigned events. (nights & weekends included)
- Willingness to learn new skills, programs, techniques in writing, editing, design, etc.
Positions Hiring
- Student Sports Information Directors: Would be tasked with overseeing a team’s pregame and postgame write-ups and other news releases, maintaining a detailed record of team and individual statistics throughout the season, building relationships with coaches and student-athletes to best promote the team, manage media requests and other inquiries, correspond with administrators in the Missouri Valley Conference for weekly player awards and more. Student SIDs may also be asked to possibly travel for postseason competitions, help assist in non-team specific events or projects, such as media days for other teams or special team events such as Pro Day and weekly coaches press conferences. Would be under the supervision of the Assistant AD for Communication and/or Assistant Athletic Communications Director. Sports needing assistance for include, but not limited to soccer, wrestling, track and field, cross country, swimming & diving, men's and women's golf and tennis.
- Student Statisticians: Would serve as either an inputter and/or caller to help create the official game stats report and box score for home games. Would be trained using NCAA Genius Live Stats and StatCrew programs. Ideal candidates for this role should have a general knowledge/interest in sports rules, particularly around football, basketball, soccer and softball, be a quick learner and be able to process live game action quickly.
MARKETING
Reports To: Director of Athletic Marketing and/or Assistant Director of Marketing
General Description of Position:
- Assist UNI’s Athletic Marketing staff in game day operations
- Coordination of in game entertainment such as:
- Game script writing & preparation
- Coordination of on field or court recognitions
- Execution of sponsored in game promotions
- Fan engagement activations
- Music operations
- Work alongside marketing staff, Panther Mayhem (student section)Â and creative content teams to promote the Panther Athletics.
- Develop real-world skills and experiences that can be transferred into professional and college athletics, as well as non-athletic settings.

CREATIVE CONTENT

Team/Game Day Photographer
Overview: Are you passionate about photography and sports? UNI Athletics is looking for student photographers to capture the action at games, practices, and special events. This is a great opportunity to build your portfolio, gain hands-on experience, and work in a fast-paced sports environment.
Responsibilities:
- Capture high-quality action shots and behind-the-scenes moments at UNI Athletics events.
- Edit and organize photos for social media, marketing materials, and team use.
- Work closely with the creative team to ensure consistent branding and storytelling.
- Deliver photos in a timely manner after events.
- Assist with organizing and maintaining photo archives.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience with DSLR or mirrorless cameras
- Basic knowledge of photo editing software (Lightroom, Photoshop, etc.).
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in fast-paced environments.
- Passion for sports and creative storytelling.
- Must be enrolled at UNI for the time in which they are on staff.
Team/Game Day Videographer
Overview: Want to be on the front lines of capturing UNI Athletics in action? We’re looking for videographers to help create dynamic video content for social media, highlight reels, and in-game entertainment. This role offers real-world experience in sports media production.
Responsibilities:
- Film high-quality game footage, player features, and behind-the-scenes content.
- Edit video clips for social media, in-game use, and team promotions.
- Assist with live-streaming and video board content when needed.
- Collaborate with the creative team to bring UNI Athletics' stories to life.
- Manage and organize video files efficiently.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience operating video cameras (DSLR, mirrorless, or professional camcorders).
- Proficiency in video editing software (Premiere Pro, Final Cut, etc.).
- Understanding of framing, lighting, and audio for sports videography.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Passion for storytelling and a creative mindset.
- Must be enrolled at UNI for the time in which they are on staff.
Graphic Designer
Overview: Help shape the look of UNI Athletics! We’re looking for a creative student graphic designer to assist in developing engaging visuals for social media, marketing, and in-game presentations. If you have a passion for design and sports, this is a great opportunity to grow your skills.
Responsibilities:
- Design graphics for social media, posters, game-day promotions, and more.
- Ensure all graphics align with UNI Athletics branding and style guidelines.
- Work closely with the marketing and creative teams to execute campaigns.
- Assist in creating motion graphics for video and in-game content (if applicable).
- Manage multiple projects with quick turnaround times.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
- Strong attention to detail and creative problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under deadlines and adapt to feedback.
- Interest in sports design and digital marketing.
- Experience with After Effects or motion graphics is a plus but not required.
