Panther Track and Field Leaves a Mark at Larry Wieczorek Invitational

IOWA CITY, Iowa - The UNI Track and Field team wrapped up the weekend at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational.
Day 1- Darius King brought home his third first-place finish of the season in the shot put with a throw of 19.44 meters. In the women's weight throw, junior Mari Shavers sets another personal best with a throw of 18.53 meters, finishing in fourth place. Senior Marin Ehler took sixth place in the weight throw with a toss of 16.94 meters. Ehler also finished seventh in the shot put with a season's best throw of 14.34 meters.
On the track, freshman Chase Knoche led the Panthers to a first-place finish in the 600-meter dash with a time of 1 minute, 21.48 seconds. Teammates Ben Daumueller finished fourth in the 600-meter dash with a personal best time of 1:22.27 and freshman Bill Mukhtar finished seventh with a time of 1:24.20.
Senior Isaiah Trousil took third in the men's premier 200-meter dash with a time of 21.48 seconds. Sophomore Emily Vos finished eighth in the women's premier 200-meter dash with a time of 25.34 seconds. Junior Connor Blough finished seventh in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.59 seconds. Freshman Kate Crawford rounded the first day out in the 3,000 meter dash with a seventh-place finish with a personal best time of 10:02.25.
Day 2- The men's pole vault rounded out the Panthers with Matteo Capello placing first with a jump of 5.05 meters, followed by teammate Brendan Safley who finished fourth with a jump of 4.75 meters.
In the 800-meter run Katie Nimrod finished third with a time of 2:18.04, followed by teammate Paige Holub finishing fourth with a time of 2:18.55.
In the mile, Karson Kleve finished third with a time of 4:19.69 followed by teammate Andrew Kephart's finish in sixth with a time of 4:26.46. Mia Rampton finished fifth in the mile with a time of 5:15.51. Senior Seb Gearhart finished sixth in the mile with a time of 4:12.90, setting a new personal best time.
Brooks took to the field in the triple jump setting a personal best jump of 14.46 meters. Freshman Craig Becker set a new time in the 800-meter run finishing seventh with a time of 1:55.25. Freshman Sophia Jungling also finished seventh with a season's best time in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:14.11 in the premier category. In the 400 meter dash Auriona Kimbrough took seventh with a season's best time of 58.40. Isaiah Trousil brought heat to the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.75 earning him sixth place next to former Panther Brandon Carnes ('17) who took first in the race with a time of 6.60.
Another former Panther made her appearance at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational, current assistant coach Alex Teubel (Wilson) ('15) performed in the mile setting a personal best and facility record of 4:35.48. The women's 4x400 meter relay of Emily Vos, Jill Bennett, Ainsley Schlicher, and Kimbrough finished fifth with a time of 3:53.04 setting a new season's best for the relay. The men's 4x400 meter relay of Onal Mitchell, Connor Blough, Chase Knoche and Tate Hookham finished seventh with a time of 3:17.84, also setting a new season's best in the event.
The Panthers return next weekend to compete in Waverly, Iowa, at Wartburg College.
