Panthers Close Out Regular Season with South Dakota Tune-Up

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The UNI track and field team is set to close out the regular season with the South Dakota Tune-Up, in Vermillion, S.D. on Friday, May 7. Action on the track will kick off at 2 p.m. with the women's and men's 10,000 meters. Field events are set to begin at 2:30 p.m. with the women's discus, men's hammer throw, men's pole vault, and men's long jump.
Last Time Out
The Panthers last competed at the ISU Invite, hosted by Illinois State, on April 30-May 1. UNI tallied six event wins and 38 top-five finishes on the weekend, with both men's and women's squads landing second in the team rankings. The men posted 155 points while the women notched 125 points. Last Time Out
On the track, junior Mia Rampton placed first with a personal best time of 11:26.90 in the women's 3000-meter steeplechase and graduate-student Taylor Raines clinched gold in the women's 100 meters with a personal best of 11.60. redshirt senior Aleenah Marcucci took first in the women's 100-meter hurdles (13.60, PR) and second in the women's long jump with a personal best leap of 5.93m. Graduate-students Kyler Yodts, Darius King, and Thomas Yezek garnered gold in the men's hammer throw (61.77m), men's shot put (19.35m) and men's discus (55.29m, PR), respectively.
The Purple and Gold notched second-place finishes in the men's discus (sophomore Cameron Jones, 53.91m, PR), men's 200 meters (graduate-student Elijah Hicks, 21.09, PR), men's long jump (sophomore Jack Sumners, 7.13m, PR), women's 3000-meter steeplechase (senior Tess Roorda, 11:52.14), women's pole vault (junior Cierra Laux, 3.74m), and the women's 4x400-meter relay (3:54.10).
NCAA Standings
King is ranked sixth in the NCAA in the men's shot-put category after posting a mark of 20.14m (66' 1") at the Gibson Invitational on April 16.
MVC Standings
UNI leads the Missouri Valley Conference in the women's 100-meter hurdles (Marcucci, 13.60), men's shot put (King, 20.14m), men's decathlon (sophomore Zack Butcher, 6238 points), and men's 4x100-meter relay (seniors Michael Santi, Tayshaun Cooper, graduate-student Elijah Hicks, and senior Dan Blocker, 40.50).
