RESULTS
MADISON, Wisconsin – The University of Northern Iowa track and field program posted a great effort at the Shell Shocker on Friday, with 45 Panthers earning Top-5 finishes at the University of Wisconsin-hosted event.
UNI's men and women finished with three wins each on Friday, with sophomore Matt Turcotte taking a pair of victories in the 60 and 200 after posting times of 7.05 and 22.34 respectively. The Panther men finished first overall in the double-dual meet, beating out host Wisconsin and Marquette with 85 points on Friday. The UNI women placed runner-up behind the host Badgers with 82 points.
Corey Hertz earned the UNI men's other win, after posting a time of 49.23 in the 400-meter. The victory in the event was the junior's second of the season.
Junior Keegan Tritle continued his sensational season by breaking UNI's school record in the shot put, after a throw of 61-00.75. Sophomore Darius King's throw of 60-3.00 would've laid claim to the record, but it was slightly behind Tritle's to rank second all-time at UNI.
For the UNI women, Kassidy Sharp won in the high jump after a mark of 5-07.00 in the event. In track action, Madisen Irmen (57.28) and Ashley Norem (5:05.78) won the 400-meter and mile. Reining MVC Female Field Athlete of the Week Sarah Pate placed second in the weight throw after a mark of 62-01.75.
