Panthers Head South For NCAA West Preliminary Round

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The UNI track and field team is headed south for the 2017 NCAA Division I Track and Field West Preliminary Round, hosted by the University of Texas May 25-27.

The top-48 student-athletes in each individual event and top-24 relay teams in the region will meet this week in Austin, Texas to determine who will advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore., June 7-10. The top-12 athletes from each event at the regional will qualify for the NCAA Championships.

UNI will travel 17 Panthers to the meet, the most qualifiers UNI has had since 2012 when they also had 17 at the regional. The Panthers are spread out throughout the competition, starting on Thursday, May 26.
