Panthers Defeat Mavericks, Break Records

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa —The University of Northern Iowa women's swimming and diving team swam to a victory over the Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks, 173-127. The Panthers took home first place finishes in nine events.
Molly Lembezeder broke her school record in the 50 Freestyle today, plus took home three first place finishes individually. Lembezeder broke her school record by one one-hundredth in the 50 Freestyle, with a time of 23.63.  Lembezeder took home three first place finishes today, in the 50 Freestyle, 100 Freestyle and 200 Freestyle respectively.Lembezeder also had season best times in the 100 Freestyle and 200 Freestyle with times of 51.84 and 1.54.01. Lembezeder was the lead swimmer in the Panthers final win of the day, teaming up with Crystal Florman, Autumn Roepsch and Rachel Siebenaller in the 200 Freestyle relay, with a time of 1:36.92.
Veronica Herrmann had first place finishes of her own in the 100 Backstroke and 200 Breaststroke events. Herrmann swam a 1:05.88 to secure her first place finish in the 100 Backstroke and a 2:25.46 in the 200 Breaststroke.
Madison Rinaldi blew away the competition in the 200 Backstroke with a time of 2:07.87. Sierra Sachtjen came in second in the event with a time of 2:10.
Allie Bey led the pack in the 1-Meter Dive, winning the event with a score of 262.72. Bey also got a new season best score in the 1-Meter Dive. Sarah Kemp and Hannah Brummel followed in third and fourth places respectively, with scores of 233.72 and 232.80. Brummel's score was good enough for a new personal best, beating out her last record by 1 point. On the 3-Meter Dive, Bey scored 248.69, nabbing the second place finish. Kemp and Brummel joined suit in the Top-4 at third and fourth places with respective scores of 239.39 and 225.60.
"UNO is always a tough team to compete against," said Head Coach Dough Humphrey. "The season is going by so fast and the girls are swimming at levels that are off the charts."

The Panther women compete at the Kansas Invitational, Nov 20-22, in Lawrence, Kansas.
