CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- Fresh off its first win of the season on Sunday, the UNI soccer team returns to the road this week as it takes on the St. Thomas Tommies on Thursday afternoon in the Twin Cities.
Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. CT at the South Soccer Field in St. Paul with live coverage of the match available on the Summit League Network.
Northern Iowa leads the all-time series against the Tommies with a 2-1-1 margin with wins in each of the last two meetings, including a 3-2 Panther victory in Cedar Falls last September. UNI will be in search of its first road win of 2025 after tying at South Dakota on Aug. 14 and falling at Milwaukee on Aug. 17 to open the season.
The Panthers will look to capitalize on recent momentum from its 4-0 shutout win over Western Illinois on Sunday in its home opener, the first for the program under interim head coach Alex Place Thomas. UNI scored all four goals in the first half, the sixth time in school history it has netted four or more goals in the opening period, with its final three goals all coming from first-time scorers in Aynslea Ulschmid, Haylee Braun and Olivia Mehl. Goalkeepers Kennedy Buntenbach and Thordis Melstead each played one half in net to combine for the Panthers' first shutout performance of the year.
In the record books, a pair of Panthers look to continue to make an impact and climb UNI's record books. Forward Olivia Knoepfle enters Thursday's match one assist shy of tying Ashley Harrington's (2020-23) career records for assists, as well as games with an assist. Midfielder Denise Camarena meanwhile sits tied for ninth in UNI history with seven career assists.

SCOUTING ST. THOMAS
The Tommies return to the pitch after a week away with an identical 1-1-1 record to the Panthers, looking to snap a two-match scoreless skid and their first win over a Division I opponent this year. St. Thomas defeated Viterbo to open the season on Aug. 14 before losing at Minnesota and tying Northern Illinois.
Led by 19th year head coach Sheila McGill, UST was picked seventh in this year's Summit League preseason poll coming off a 5-9-3 campaign a year ago with a seventh-place finish in the league standings and a 1-5-2 mark in conference play.Â
The Tommies are led by a pair of Summit League preseason watchlist selections in goalkeeper Olivia Rowe and forward Tatum Trettel. Trettel scored three goals with one assist in 2024, while Rowe started 12 matches in goal with a 1.54 goals allowed average and a .725 save percentage.
