Panther soccer returns home for matchup against St. Ambrose

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The UNI soccer team returns home after their first road trip of 2026, welcoming the NAIA St. Ambrose Fighting Bees to town for a non-conference matchup.
Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. CT at the UNI Soccer Field with the contest free and open to the public.
Spectators can park in the west UNI-Dome lot as well as the gravel lot located next to the Doug and Anne Goschke Outdoor Practice Facility. Parking behind the team benches will be reserved for staff and game officials only.
UNI students in attendance will also be treated to free pizza slices while supplies last on the west end of the field
UNI returns to action after a 3-0 loss to Northern Illinois in DeKalb on Sunday. Northern Iowa maintained a consistent offensive attack with a season-high 12 shot attempts along with a season-best six shots on goal in the contest. Kylie Knief led the Panthers with two shots on goal, while Shaelee Franck, Torie Delgado, Ella Ubben and Camille Landphair each recorded one shot on target. UNI goalkeeper Hailey Luedtke finished the match with seven saves in her second career start in goal.
Thursday will mark the 14th all-time UNI and St. Ambrose face off in the two programs' history, with the Panthers holding a perfect 13-0-0 record against the Fighting Bees. UNI won the previous matchup last season by a score of 2-0, and have outscored St. Ambrose by a 34-4 margin all-time.
SCOUTING ST. AMBROSE
The Fighting Bees are coming off 6-1 loss to No. 5 Marian last Saturday in their season opener and lone match of 2026. Head coach John Mannall returns four of his five leading goal scorers from a 2025 campaign that ended with a 13-6-3 record and a first round loss in the NAIA Tournament.
Competing in their first season in the Heart of American Conference, the Fighting Bees are led by senior forward Mia Hefner, who scored a team-high 11 goals with 26 points a season ago. Sophia Roszkowski also returns at midfielder for St. Ambrose after notching six goals in 2025 with 14 total points. SAU also returns Olivia Infante, who netted four goals in 2025.
