CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The UNI soccer team begins a two-game road trip this Sunday as it travels to Ames for an in-state matchup against the Iowa State Cyclones.Â
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT at Cyclone Sports Complex. The game can be found on ESPN+.Â
Northern Iowa returns to the pitch after notching their first goal of the 2026 season in a 1-1 draw against St. Ambrose on Thursday in Cedar Falls. Abi Roberts tallied her first career goal in the match with Ella Ubben recorded her second career assist early in the first half, while St. Ambrose leveled the match early in the second stanza. With Roberts and Kailey O'Brien leading the UNI attack with two shots-on-goal a piece and Hailey Luedtke notching four saves in goal, the Panthers set new season-high marks as a team for shot attempts (23) and shots on goal (11).
Sunday will mark the 16th all-time meeting between Northern Iowa and Iowa State on the pitch with the Cyclones leading the series, 13-1-1. The Panthers' lone win in the series came in 2018 by a 1-0 score, while also tying ISU during the spring 2021 COVID season.

SCOUTING IOWA STATE
The Cyclones are coming off a 2-0 loss on Thursday to the Iowa Hawkeyes. Head coach Matt Fannon returns his top scorer from the 2025 season in Morgan Goodman, who tallied nine points for the Cyclones a year ago with one goal already on the young season. Sophomore forward Megan Walters also returns for Iowa State after a promising freshman season that consisted of seven points and three goals.Â
Rounding out the key returners for Iowa State is sophomore Sophie Forrester, who notched two goals and five points during the 2025 season. Danica Lunceford, Mia Sowders, Aubrey Crawford and Grace Luedde are also names to watch with each player already scoring a goal in the 2026 season.Â
