CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The final week of the 2025 outdoor regular season has arrived for the UNI track and field team, which will look to get its final tune up before next week's conference championship meet on Friday when the Panthers visit Ames for the Cyclone Twilight.
Competition is scheduled to begin at the Cyclone Sports Complex on the Iowa State University campus.Â
Northern Iowa is coming off a strong performance last weekend in Iowa City at the Musco Twilight, where it crowned ten event champions during the two-day competition, and set 29 new career-best and 20 new season-best marks, as well as one new meet record.
Katie Fare, the reigning Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Women's Field Athlete of the Week, set a new meet record with a 16.92-meter toss to win the women's shot put, while Brendan Safley secured the men's pole vaulting title in Iowa City after clearing 5.30 meters.
In the women's 400-meter hurdles, both Carlie Jo Fusco, the reigning MVC Women's Track Athlete of the Week, and Joey Perry both cracked the top-five all-time with sub-one minute times, as Kait McHale tied the fifth-best outdoor pole vaulting mark in tema history at 3.70 meters.
Zack Butcher and Josey Dunbar swept the men's and women's long jump events, as Deonte Dean captured the men's 200 meters and Melody Ochana won the women's mile run. The Panthers also picked up a pair of relay victories in the women's 4x100-meter race and the men's 4x400-meter relay.
ÂEntering Friday's competition, UNI athletes currently lead the MVC in 11 events:

- Men's Shot Put | Carson Lienau - 18.66m
- Men's Hammer | Nathan Wilde - 61.56m
- Men's Javelin | Justice Miller - 65.30m
- Decathlon | Zack Butcher - 7,052 pts
- Women's 400m Hurdles | Carlie Jo Fusco - 59.26
- Women's 3,000m Steeplechase | Emma Hoins - 10:15.39
- Women's 4x100m Relay | Perry, Fusco, Williams, Jones - 3:42.89
- Women's Shot Put | Katie Fare - 17.23m
- Heptathlon | Joey Perry - 5,174 pts
The Panthers also post seven top-30 rankings in the Division I West Region:
