CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --- The UNI cross country team turns its attention to postseason competition beginning Friday morning at the 2025 Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Championships in southern Indiana.
Action at the Angel Mounds Course is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. CT with the women's six-kilometer race, followed by the men's eight-kilometer competition at 11:30 a.m. CT.
Entering this year's conference championship meet, Bradley was tabbed as the pre-championship favorite to win both the men's and women's team titles.
The Panther women finished fifth hosting last year's MVC Championship meet and will be in search of their first conference title since 2016. The UNI men took seventh last October at conference, seeking its first men's title since 2003.
Northern Iowa is coming off a stellar performance at the Bradley Pink Classic, a meet that saw 13 athletes notch career-best times. Sarah Feddersen led the pack with an 11th place finish in the open division 6K in a career-best time of 22:31. Clare Wright followed in 12th place (22:38), Brooke O'Brien took 15th place (22:40) and Kendra Nissen took 17th in a career-best mark of 22:44.
In the invitational 6K race, Lindsey Sonderman placed 23rd in a career-best time of 21:11 and the ninth-fastest time in program history. Leah Klapatauskas crossed the line in 47th with a career-best finish (21:37), followed by Meghan Wheatley in 53rd in a career-best time of 21:40.
On the men's side, Micah Rees led the Panthers in the open 8K race with a 32nd place effort in a new career-best time of 24:46. Close behind in 44th place was Colin Lillie, notching another career-best finish of 24:58, along with Ty Getz in 72nd in a career-best finish of 25:25.
