Panther men’s golf looks to ride momentum into MVC Championships

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — Coming off their first tournament win in nine years at the Stampede At The Creek, UNI men's golf will look to carry momentum into its final tournament of the season beginning Sunday morning at the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Championships.
This year's tournament, hosted by Missouri State, will take place at The Club at Porto Cima in Lake Ozarks, Missouri. The course, set at par-72, sits at 7,000-yards in distance.
The Panthers will tee off the first round at 9:30 a.m. CT on Sunday morning with a single 18-hole round with tee-times yet to be announced. Monday's second round will begin at 9 a.m. CT followed by the final 18 holes on Tuesday at 8 a.m. CT.
UNI placed third at last year's MVC Championships in Coal Valley, Illinois, with Griffin Parker carding a 212 (-1) to lead the Panther pack. Parker, who is averaging a score of 73.20 per round this season, is coming off of a tied second place finish at the Stampede At The Creek.
Also returning for UNI from last year's conference championship meet are JD Pollard, who shot a 216 (+3) to finish in a tie for 17th place, and Connor Van Weelden, who also scored a 216 to tie for 17th. Pollard, who has dropped his season average down to 73.79 in recent tournaments, has three top-ten finishes this spring, while Van Weelden has averaged 74.75 strokes per round.
