CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The UNI men's golf team wrapped up its fall season at the Zach Johnson Invitational in West Des Moines, Iowa, on Tuesday afternoon. The Panthers finished in 13th place at the 13-team tournament with a combined score of 906 (+54). Lindenwood and South Dakota State tied for first place with a score of 840 (-12). South Dakota State climbed two spots in the final round to tie for first. Jake Olson of South Dakota State took home the individual title after shooting a 205 (-8), finishing one stroke ahead of Lindenwood's Ludvig Behring.
UNI as a team finished the tournament with 30 birdies. Leading the way once again for the Panthers was Tanner Dinnebier, who tied for 29th place with a three-round score of 218 (+5). Dinnebier opened the tournament with a 75 before shooting a team best, two-under 69 in the second round and finishing with a 74 on Tuesday. He also led the Panthers with nine birdies throughout the tournament.
Sam Wahman followed behind Dinnebier, tying for 54th place with a score of 224 (+11). Wahman shot rounds of 74, 76 and 74 while recording six birdies during the tournament. Next for the Panthers was Davis Tripp, who tied for 72nd place after shooting a 233 (+20). Tripp had his best round of the tournament on Tuesday, firing a 73 after shooting a 78 and 82 in the first two rounds. Tripp also finished with six birdies.
Drew Spooner finished tied for 74th place with a three-round score of 234 (+21). Spooner shot back-to-back rounds of 79 before finishing with a 76 in the final round. Anthony Galvin rounded out the Panthers' team scorecard in 76th place, shooting a 236 (+23). Galvin recorded five birdies throughout the tournament. Competing individually for UNI was Zach McCarty, who tied for 74th place with a score of 234 (+21). McCarty finished with seven birdies, the second-most among UNI golfers.
The Zach Johnson Invitational concludes the Panthers' fall season, with UNI returning to competition in the spring.
