CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — After hosting and competing at the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Championships two weeks ago, the Panthers will take the cross country course again on Friday morning as they compete at the NCAA Midwest Regional meet in Peoria, Illinois, hosted by Bradley University.
ÂThe women's six-kilometer race will begin at 11 a.m. CT at the Newman Golf Course, followed by the run of the men's ten-kilometer at 12 p.m. CT.
ÂAt the MVC Championships, record-breaking performances were achieved on both the men's and women's side. For the men, beating out his previous program record set at the Gans Creek Classic this season was Caleb Shumaker, who finished in 18th with a new best time of 24:02. Following him were Carson Owens, who finished in 48th place in a time of 24:59 and Levi Hill in 49th place with a career-best time of 25:00. Brady Griebel, who also achieved a career-best time of 25:15, finished in 59th place. Finishing in 70th place was Micah Rees, clocking a time of 25:36, and crossing the finish line in 75th was Drew Dombrosky in 26:23. Rounding out the Panther men was Josh Gormley in 78th, posting a finishing time of 26:42.
ÂOn the women's side was Emma Hoins, who finished in 12th place and now holds the fastest-time in the women's six-kilometer with a time of 20:44, earning her MVC Honorable Mention recognition. Finishing in 16th place was Amelia Hill, clocking the program's new second-fastest time of 20:50 and in 18th was Melody Ochana, posting a finishing time of 20:59, the fourth-fastest time in program history. Following her on the field was Eden Mueller in 34th place with a career-best time of 21:38. Kate Crawford, who finished in 37th place, crossed the finish line in 21:46 and behind her was Leah Klapatauskas in 49th (22:10). In 57th place was Brooke O'Brien in a finishing time of 22:21. Clocking a career-best time of 22:28 was Clare Wright, who finished in 62nd place, and rounding out the Panther women's field was Lauren Klein, who achieved a career-best time of 22:37 in a 67th place finish.
