UNI cross country rounds out season at the NCAA Midwest Regional

PEORIA, Ill. — The UNI cross country team wrapped up the 2024 season on Friday as it competed at the NCAA Midwest Regional meet, hosted by Bradley University at the Newman Golf Course.
The Panther women finished the six-kilometer race in 15th place out of 33 teams, while the men finished its lone ten-kilometer race of the year in 24th place out of 29 teams. Oklahoma State captured both team titles.
Finishing first for the Panther women was Amelia Hill in 65th place in a time of 21:05, followed by Melody Ochana in 68th (21:11). Emma Hoins clocked a finishing time of 21:13, crossing the finish line in 76th place. Behind her was Kate Crawford, posting a new career-best 6K time of 21:31 and a 99th place finish. Eden Mueller was next to finish in 129th place (21:55) and was followed by Leah Klapatauskas in 151st (22:18). Rounding out the Panther women's field was Brooke O'Brien in 203rd, finishing in 23:10.
Caleb Shumaker led the Panther men as he finished in 50th place in a time of 30:38, with the program's third-fastest men's 10K time all-time. Finishing in 138th and clocking a new career-best time of 32:03 was Carson Owens, and making his 10K debut was Chase Lauman, who finished in 154th place (32:21). Brady Griebel posted a career-best time of 32:23, crossing the finish line in 157th place. Making their 10K debut were Levi Hill, who finished in 159th place (32:31), Drew Dombrosky, clocking a 193rd place finish (34:16), and Micah Rees, who rounded out the Panther men's field in 194th place (34:23).
