Panther track & field racks up 17 titles at Jack Jennett Invitational

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — UNI track and field put on an impressive show on Friday as the Panthers welcomed athletes from six schools to the UNI-Dome for the annual running of the Jack Jennett Invitational.
Northern Iowa racked up 17 first-place finishes in its lone home meet of the year, providing valuable experience for its athletes in just the second meet of the indoor season.
The Panthers opened the meet with top-four finishes in the women's long jump with Josey Dunbar finishing in first place with a 5.43-meter leap, followed by Maleah Walker in second (5.26m), Amanda Lietz (5.11m) in third and Kallie Greiner (5.02m) in fourth. In the men's weight throw, Justin Olson clinched gold with a 16.63-meter toss, as Bo Braunecker (16.60m) took second behind with a career-best throw. Jacob Baier (16.55m) meanwhile finished in third place. Competing unattached, Kileigh Lachacz finished in ninth place with 13.82 meter in the weight throw and Colin Buch (5.7m) placed eighth in the men's long jump.
Alivia Silvestri topped the podium in the women's pole vault with a 3.50-meter vault and Sydnee Scott taking second after clearing 3.20 meters. Hannah Wallace (3.05m) and Isabelle Cox (3.05m) finished in third and fourth. In the women's triple jump, Dunbar came in second place, jumping 10.51 meters and Kallie Greiner (10.34m) placing third. Competing unattached, David Russsell won the men's shot put throwing 15.76 meters, while Aaron Sobuch, also competing unattached in the pole vault, placed fourth after a 3.95-meter vault. In the shot put, Katie Fare won the event with 15.40 meters competing unattached. Jorie Hanenburg, also competing unattached, came in third place with 12.83 meters, while Breanna Hackman (12.44m) took fourth. Allison Flanscha (12.02m) finished in ninth place.
On the track, Hunter Manock finished in first place with 8.28-second time in the men's 60-meter hurdles, while Carter Accola took second with a career-best time. Kyle Trunnell (8.60) meanwhile finished in third. On the women's side of the 60-meter hurdles, Paige Kisley took home first place in 8.83 second, with Amanda Lietz ran a personal-best of 9.80 seconds to finish in second place.
UNI took the top-four spots on the podium in the men's 60-meter dash with Luke Meyers leading the pack with a career-best time of 6.73 second to take home first place with the sixth-fastest time in program history, while Jerome Jessup (6.79) placed second with a career-best time. Deonte Dean placed third with a personal-best time of 6.84 seconds, as Austin Kunkle finished in fourth with a personal-best time of 6.95. Freshman Olivia Kramer led the Panthers in the women's 60 meters with a career-best time of 7.66 to take home gold, as Ariana Yaklich placed second (7.71). Eden Barrett ran a career-best time of 7.82 to finish in third with Ella Santi placing fifth.
In the women's 400-meter dash, Libby Wedewer finished in first place with a time of 58.42 with Caroline Benfeldt-Sorensen placing second in 1:00.76. Madelyn Sanda and Tiffany Woerdehoff placed fourth and sixth respectively. Isaac Vaske secured the men's 400-meter title in a time of 50.16, while Andrew Ferguson (50.99) took second place. Competing unattached, Edgar Tapia (51.98) and Colin Buch placed fourth and ninth in the event. Eden Barrett won the women's 200-meter for the purple and gold in a time of 25.76, as Ariana Yaklich came in second. Austin Kunkle placed third in the men's 200 meters with a time of 22.98.
Kaylin Lacher took first place in the women's mile run with a time of 5:19.08, as Brooke O'Brien (5:21.12) and Lauren Klein (5:37.51) finished third and fifth place respectively. Drew Dombrosky finished in 11th place with a time of 4:41.55 in the men's mile, as Josh Gormley placed ninth in the men's 3000-meter (8:59.23).
