CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — With a slate of Panthers set to compete at this year's Drake Relays, UNI track and field begins its second weekend competition on Thursday afternoon at Simpson College's Kip Janvrin Open at Bill Buxton Stadium in Indianola.

Thursday's opening day will include the running of the mile, 3,000-meter steeplechase and the 5,000-meters, with field events, sprints, hurdles and mid-distance events slated for Friday beginning at 10 a.m. CT.

Coming off seven event titles at Augustana's Meet of Champions last weekend, the Panthers look to find their stride with just two weeks to go until the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Outdoor Championships in Normal, Illinois.

Fresh off a 400-meter hurdles win last week at Augustana, Darci Wiseman seeks to improve on her career-best time of 1:03.68 at Illinois' Fighting Illini Challenge this month. Anna Winterrowd, who placed third in the 400-meter hurdles last weekend in Rock Island, also looks to improve on her top time of 1:03.86, which ranks ninth in the MVC this season. Paige Kisley enters the 100-meter hurdles with the MVC's 11th fastest time at 14.54 second, while Paige Holub ranks 22nd in the conference in the women's mile at 4:38.20.

On the men's side, Bill Mukhtar leads the Panthers in the 400-meter hurdles with the MVC's fourth-best time at 55.10 seconds, clocked at Drake's Jim Duncan Invitational two weeks ago. Isaac Vaske also ranks inside the conference's top-ten in the 400-meter hurdles at 55.85 seconds, the sixth-best time this season.

Competing in his first collegiate season, River Patterson ranks in the top-16 in the MVC in the men's 400-meters with a mark of 49.31 seconds, while Brady Griebel posts the 13th best time in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a 9:55.09, set at Illinois three weeks ago. In the mid-distance competition, Jayden Dickson, coming off his first outdoor meet as a Panther, looks to improve on his 800-meter time of 1:56.08, clocked at Augustana last Friday.
