UNI divers return to Iowa City for Hawkeye Invitational

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — UNI divers will return to the boards in Iowa City on Thursday and Friday set to compete in this year's Hawkeye Invitational at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center.
One-meter springboard competition will be held on Thursday with three-meter dives taking place on Friday. Preliminary dives will begin at 10 a.m. CT with finals to follow at 5 p.m. CT both days. This year's field of competing teams includes Iowa, Iowa State, Coe College and Colorado State.

The Panthers opened their 2023-24 season with a dual meet against Iowa back in October, where Trista Thompson claimed a top-three finish in the one-meter competition in her collegiate debut with a score of 245.10, cracking UNI's top-ten list all-time in the event. Erica Peters took fifth-place on the one-meter boards (219.10). In the three-meter competition against Iowa, Hannah Taylor notched a third-place finish with a score of 230.90, edging out Peters, who claimed fourth place with a 227.70. Maddie Moran and Avery Hogan followed right behind with fifth and sixth place finishes.Â
In their last outing at the West Virginia Invitational, the Panthers competed against over 60 divers from across the east coast, with Abby Hutchins leading Northern Iowa on the one-meter board in 17th place overall and a score of 221.25. Taylor took home 28th place in the three-meter competition (214.65), while Hutchins and Peters combined to earn sixth-place in the team diving event (234.20), with Thomspon, Hogan and Moran finishing in seventh (220.45).
