UNI tennis closes out regular season with loss to Drury, 5-2

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Darta Dalecka and Andrijana Brkic secured their second consecutive wins in singles competition for UNI women's tennis, but Drury University walked away with the team win, 5-2.Â
UNI ended the regular season 5-13 and 1-4 in the Missouri Valley Conference. Drury, ranked No. 24 in Division II, improved to 13-2.Â
Emma Carr and Issa Sullivan combined to get a win at No. 3 doubles against Drury's Maria Fernanda de la Torre and Clara Kuehnle. However, Drury University opened with the doubles point winning at No. 1 and No. 2.Â
Lorena Cardoso stepped out at No. 2 singles, shifting the Panthers up a position. Drury took the wins at No. 4 and No. 6 before Dalecka got UNI on the board, winning 6-2 and 6-3 at No. 1 singles.
Brkic would follow suit at No. 3 singles, to get the 6-2, 6-2 wins over Nastasia Jedrychowski. At No. 2 singles, Emma Carr pushed Alma Abazi into a tiebreaker, but lost 6-2, 7-6.Â
At No. 5 singles, Issa Sullivan dropped the first set 6-1 to Kseniia Eremina. She won the second set 6-4 to force a third set, which Drury's Eremina won 6-2.Â

UNI heads to the MVC Championships in Des Moines, Iowa, April 22-24. Bracket information is expected to be released tomorrow.Â
