UNI women’s tennis hosts Illinois State and Bradley at home

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The University of Northern Iowa women's tennis team will host two Missouri Valley Conference opponents this weekend at the Black Hawk Tennis Center. The Panthers will face Illinois State on Saturday, April 11, at 1 p.m., followed by a matchup against Bradley on Sunday, April 12, at 10 a.m.
Last weekend, the Panthers faced Drake, where the Bulldogs earned the early advantage by sweeping all three doubles matches. At No. 1 doubles, Maja Dodik and Jordane Dookie defeated Lucia Schuknecht and Andrea Noa Galin, 6-0. Drake followed with a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles over Abbie Peterson and Kayla Santosa, before closing out the sweep at No. 3, where Shiori Takeda and Milana Dejanovic topped Yangjiaxin Li and Sedina Begic, 6-3.
In singles, UNI (2-12) battled but was unable to break through. Schuknecht pushed Dodik to a first-set tiebreak at No. 1 before falling 7-6(1), 6-3. Noa Galin earned a set win at No. 3 before Takeda rallied to claim the match in three sets, 4-6, 6-3, 6-0. The remaining singles matches were captured by Drake.
