No. 6 seed UNI tennis at MVC Championships vs. No. 3 Bradley

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - UNI women's tennis enters the MVC Championships as the No. 6 seed and will open tournament play against No. 3 seed Bradley.

The tournament is scheduled from April 22-24 with UNI in the quarterfinal match at 3 p.m. Friday, April 22.

Drake University is hosting the event at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center. Admission is free. Fans are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, and parking is available next to the outdoor courts.

Drake enters the tournament on a six-match win streak as the No. 1 seed. The Bulldogs are undefeated in conference play.

UNI wrapped up the regular conference season with its first conference win since the 2018-19 season. The Panthers took down the Missouri State Bears, 6-1.

Panthers Darta Dalecka, Lorena Cardoso and Andrijana Brkic are on win streaks having won the last two singles matches of their seasons.

Dalecka at No. 1 singles is 8-6 overall and 2-3 in the conference. Cardoso is 5-12 / 2-3, and Brkic is 6-11 / 2-2.

UNI AT THE MVC CHAMPIONSHIPS

UNI is still chasing its first MVC team title, but the Panthers have placed second three times (2018, 2009, 2005).

The last time UNI took runner-up honors was in 2018. UNI was seeded sixth and knocked off No. 3 Illinois State and No. 2 Stony Brook before falling to No. 4 Missouri State in the championship match, 4-2.

Last year, UNI was seeded seventh and opened with a 4-0 loss to Stony Brook. The tournament was canceled in 2020.

In 2019, UNI last faced Bradley in the tournament as the same seeds as assigned this year. Bradley advanced with a 4-0 win.
