Senior Isaiah Trousil tops 60-meter dash field at Nebraska track and field invite

LINCOLN, Neb.- Senior Isaiah Trousil led the Panthers with his first-place finish in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.74 seconds.
Trousil ran past competitors from a Big Ten school and four Big 12 Schools to win.
Paishence Johnson took third in the women's 60-meter-dash stopping the clock at a tied time of 7.56 seconds. Johnson battled against four University of Oklahoma, Kansas State, and Nebraska runners in the final to claim third.
Day 1 - Parker Kiewiet took sixth in the men's long jump with a distance of 7.13 meters.
Mia Rampton led the women in the 5,000 meter run with a personal best time of 17 minutes 45.83 seconds and a second place finish. Isabelle Schaffer's personal best run of 18:10.75 finished her fifth followed by senior Jill Vonnahme finishing sixth with a time of 18:13.09. Caleb Shumaker finished the men's 5,000 meter run with a time of 15:34.00.
In the 400-meter run Onal Mitchell finished with a season's best time of 50.12 seconds. Teammate Tate Hookham finished with a time of 50.50 seconds, Connor Blough finished with a 50.57 second run. Freshman Bill Mukhtar finished with a time of 50.81 seconds and Matt Davis finished with a time of 51.78 seconds, leading all Panthers to place season best in the 400 meter run.
Katie Nimrod posted a season's best in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:38.14. In the 400-meter dash Emily Vos posted a season's best time of 58.27 seconds.
In the men's preliminary 60-meter dash Senior Tayshaun Cooper finished with a season's best time of 6.84 seconds earning him 10th place.
In the field, Mari Shavers took ninth in the women's weight throw with a toss of 17.82 meters. Darius King posted a second season-best throw in the men's weight throw with a toss of 18.54 meters. Isabella Holtzen and Cierra Laux tied for 11th and 12th in the women's pole vault with a vertical of 3.52 meters.
In the 60-meter-hurdles preliminary round Paige Kisley finished with a time of 9.06 seconds. Sophomore Jack Sumners qualified for the men's 60-meter hurdle final with a time of 8.18 seconds with freshman Drew Bartels and his time of 8.20 seconds.
In the finals of the men's 60-meter-hurdles on Saturday, Jack Sumners finished fifth with a time of 8.14 seconds and Drew Bartels finished 6th with a time of 8.15 seconds.
Day 2 - The Panthers begin day 2 with momentum in the men's high jump. Matt Davis posted a new personal best in the men's high jump, moving his previous mark of 1.99 meters to 2.05 meters and a fourth place finish. Sydney Durbin also posted a personal best in the women's high jump with a vertical of 1.61 meters.
In the shot put, Morgan Nealey posted another personal best, moving her previous mark of 15.25 meters to 15.35 meters and an eighth place finish. Darius King finished third in the men's shot put with a season's best toss of 19.67meters. Freshman Matt Kapuska also posted a personal best with a toss of 15.95 meters.
In the men's pole vault, Matteo Capello took third with a season's best jump of 5.36 meters improving on his height of 5.21 meters. Brandan Safley finished eighth with a jump of 4.66 meters.
In the 200-meter-dash, Paishence Johnson led the women with a personal best time of 24.97 seconds. Freshman Libby Wedewer followed with a season's best time of 25.40 seconds. Sophomore Tyler Gray finished with a season's best time of 25.52 seconds. Sydney Durbin set a personal best in the 200m dash with a time of 26.99 seconds and Lydia Berns-Schweingruber set a season's best with a time of 27.95 seconds.
Parker Kiewiet finished sixth in the men's 200-meter dash with a time of 21.63 seconds. Senior Tayshaun Cooper also set a season's best time of 22.64 seconds in the sprint.
Andrew Kephart took eighth place in the mile with a time of 4:17.48, setting a season's best time. Freshman Brady Griebel set a personal best time in the mile with a time of 4:23.26.
In the men's 800-meter run, freshman Chase Knoche finished runner-up with a personal best time of 1:54.48 followed by fellow freshman teammate Bowen Gryp's personal best time of 1:57.00 and tenth place finish.
In the 800-meter run "invite" category, Sophia Jungling placed fifth in the women's race with a season's best time of 2:11.69. Senior Seb Gearhart finished third with a personal best time of 1:51.57. Junior Ben Daumueller finished sixth with a season's best time of 1:54.45.
Kate Crawford took sixth in the women's 3,000 invitational with a time of 10:03.50 only 1.25 seconds off her personal best time set a few weeks ago.
The Panthers wrap up the meet with the 4x400 meter relays. For the women, "UNI A" team finished second with a time of 3:51.27 by the work of Auriona Kimbrough, Emily Vos, Jungling, and Nimrod. The "UNI B" team finished seventh with a time of 3:57.47 with the work of Olivia Hubler, Ainsley Schlicher, Gray, and Kisley. For the men, "UNI A" team finished with a time of 3:19.41 and the "UNI B" team finished with a time of 3:31.61.
The Panthers return next weekend, Feb. 11-12, to travel to Ames, Iowa to attend the Iowa State Classic at Iowa State University.
