Panther track and field wraps up Jack Jennett Invitational

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa- Nine Panthers won titles at UNI track and field's Jack Jennett Invitational.

Day 1 - Lydia Berns-Schweingruber finished first in the pentathlon scoring 3,174 points and setting a personal best in the high jump with a vertical of 1.63 meters and a personal best in the long jump with a leap of 5.01 meters. Sydney Durbin finished runner-up with a total of 3,010 points and personal bests in four out of five events, with most notable being the shot put with a 1.44 meter difference from her previous best throw. Freshman Kelly Proesch finished fourth in the pentathlon with a total point score of 2,843. Amanda Lietz finished fifth with a total point score of 2,589 setting personal bests in the three events.
The heptathlon rounded out the first day of events, with Carter Morton leading the pack of Panthers with a total score of 3,133. Morton set personal best performances on day one in the 60-meter dash, long jump and high jump. Parker Kiewiet claimed runner-up with a point total of 3,079 and setting personal bests in all four events. Matt Davis took third with a score total of 3,030 and four personal bests. Zach Butcher took fourth setting two new personal bests. Freshman Drew Bartels finished fifth in his first pentathlon after day one with a point total of 2,781.
Day 2 - The heptathlon finished the second day of events with the 60-meter hurdles, pole vault and the 1,000 meter run. Carter Morton continued through the competition, setting new personal best performances in all three events. Morton took first place overall in the heptathlon with a point total of 5,326. Parker Kiewiet finished runner-up in the heptathlon with a point total of 5,007 and two new personal bests in the pole vault and 60-meter hurdles. Matt Davis finished third with a point total of 4,931 and a personal best in the pole vault with a jump of 4.35 meters. Zach Butcher finished fourth with a point total of 4,585 and freshman Drew Bartels rounded out the field with a fifth place finish and a point total of 4,501.
The Panthers showed dominance in the field with the women finishing first in the high jump, shot put, weight throw and pole vault. In the high jump Rylie Todd took first with a jump of 1.70 meters setting a new season's best. Senior Marin McClowry and freshman Layanna Green tied for third place with season best jumps of 1.60 meters. Morgan Johnk took sixth with a jump of 1.50 meters .05 centimeters short of her season best. In the shot put, Morgan Nealey finished first with a dominating throw of 15.25 meters setting a personal best throw to move her to fifth place in the conference. Junior Caitlin Thilges set a personal best in the shot put with a throw of 14.13 meters, showing a .31 centimeter improvement. Freshman Lexie Magnani finished fifth with a season's best throw of 12.56 meters. In the weight throw Caitlin Thilges took first place with a throw of 16.94 meters. Senior Morgan Nealey finished fourth with a throw of 15.48 meter toss. Lexie Magnani finished sixth with a throw of 12.93 meters. In the pole vault, Alivia Silvestri took first place with a season's best jump of 3.30 meters. Teammate Abbie Schwieder took runner-up with a jump of 3.15 meters.
On the track, the women showed dominance in the UNI-Dome over visiting teams. In the 60-meter dash junior Olivia Hubler finished third with a personal best time of 8.04 seconds. Hubler also finished fourth in the 200 meter dash stopping the clock at 26.47 seconds. In the 60 meter dash Freshman Eva Van De Mortel finished fourth with a time of 8.10 followed by freshman Ariana Yaklich finished fifth with a season's best time of 8.14. In the mile, Abby Riley finished third with a personal best time of 5 minutes, 22.86 seconds, followed closely in fourth place by teammate Grace Schaefer with a best time of 5:31.14. Freshman Lauren Klein finished fifth in the mile with a season's best time of 5:39.70. Patrice Watson finished third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.85 seconds. In the 400- meter dash freshman Anna Winterrowd took first place with a time of 1:01.91 followed by teammate Noel James finishing second with a time of 1:01.57. In fourth place, freshman Millie Hill took fourth place with a time of 1:01.95 and freshman Margo Chipps finished fifth, stopping the clock at 1:06.36. In the 800 meter run Grace Schaefer finished runner-up with a time of 2:27.46. Teammate Abby Riley finished moments behind with a time of 2:27.29 taking third place. Freshman Lauren Klein took fifth in the race with a time of 2:29.78. In the 3,000 meter, run Jill Vonnahme set a personal best time of 10:25.28 and took first place. Freshman Isabelle Shaffer finished runner-up to Vonnahme with a season's best time of 10:36.99 and rounded out the meet for the Panther women.
The men were led by Blair Brooks, finishing first in the long jump with a season's best of 7.38 meters. Teammate Jack Sumners finished runner-up to Brooks with a jump of 7.29 meters. Freshman Ethan Peters finished runner-up in the high jump with a vertical of 1.95 meters. Freshman Caden Ungs finished sixth with a jump of 1.80 meters. Freshman Matt Kapuska finished third in the shot put with a throw of 15.62 meters. Teammate Jacob Baier finished fourth in the shot put with a throw of 14.90 meters. Baier also finished third in the weight throw with a throw of 14.42 meters. In the 60-meter hurdles Oisin Leopold took fourth with a season's best time of 8.35 seconds. In the 800-meter run Lake Lebahn finished with a time of 1:59.80 taking runner-up. Freshman Payton Marrs finished fourth with a season's time of 2:02.99, followed by fellow freshman Brady Griebel 2:04.24 finishing sixth. In the mile Payton Marrs finished runner-up with a time of 4:27.36 setting a new season's best followed by freshman Brady Griebel finishing third with a time of 4:31.47. Lake Lebahn finished seventh with a season's best time of 3:34.05 followed by freshman Caleb Shumaker with his time of 4:34.87 and eighth place. Grant Rickertsen and Cole Willert rounded out the men in the 400-meter dash with Rickertsen finishing sixth with a time of 53.64 and Willert seventh with a time of 53.98.
The Panthers finish the weekend at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational hosted by the University of Iowa tomorrow afternoon.
