Panthers Head to Normal, Ill. for the ISU Invite

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The UNI track and field team is slated to travel to Normal, Ill. to compete in the ISU Classic, hosted by Illinois State, on Friday and Saturday. The meet will be held in two sessions, with the women's session on Friday and the men's session on Saturday. Field events begin at 9 a.m. with the hammer throw and track events will start with the 100-meter prelims at 1:00 p.m. on both days.
Last Time Out
The Panthers last competed at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, April 22-24, as well as the Kip Janvrin Open in Indianola, Iowa, on April 23. At the Drake Relays, the Panthers posted 13 top-five finishes. Junior Rylan Santi, senior Allison Hilleman, junior Emily Vos, and senior Emily Paul clinched first in the women's 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:39.20. UNI placed second with a time of 3:45.41 in the women's 4x400-meter relay unseeded final and third in the men's 4x400-meter relay unseeded final with a time of 3:15.39. Graduate-student Kyler Yodts posted a personal-best toss of 63.97m in the men's hammer throw to place third. Yodts' mark places him second all-time at UNI, just behind Justin Baker, who holds the school record with a toss of 65.76m, set in 2016. The Panthers also notched a third-place finish in the women's sprint medley after stopping the clock at 3:59.85.

At the Kip Janvrin Open, seniors Aleenah Marcucci, Hannah Schau, and Megan Hudson went 1-2-3 in the women's 100-meter hurdles clocking times of 14.04 (PR), 14.61 (PR), and 15.09, respectively. Senior Malory Henze and junior Morgan Nealey posted second-place finishes, with Henze posting a mark of 42.75m in the women's discus and Nealey recording a toss of 14.23m in the women's shot put.
NCAA Standings
Graduate-student Darius King is ranked second in the NCAA in the men's shot-put category after posting a mark of 20.14m (66' 1") at the Gibson Invitational on April 16. Leading the category is Arizona State's Turner Washington with a mark of 21.07m (69' 1.5"), recorded on Feb. 3.
MVC Standings
UNI leads the Missouri Valley Conference in four events. The Panthers lead in the men's 4x100-meter relay category after posting a time of 40.50 at the Drake Relays. King leads the men's shot put, graduate-student Thomas Yezek leads the men's discus, and sophomore Zack Butcher is first in the men's decathlon.
