Cedar Falls, Iowa – UNI Softball won on Tuesday, April 27^th against the Bulldogs of Drake 13-5 in six innings. The Panthers scored thirteen runs on ten hits and committed two errors.

Game 1 | UNI 13, Drake 5
The Bulldogs got on the board first in the top half of the first inning as they pushed three runs across. The Panthers would respond in the bottom half of the third with three of their own making the score 3-3. The Panthers had a huge 4^th inning scoring a total of eight runs and taking the lead 11-3. Four of those runs came from a Kamryn Shaffer grand slam. The Bulldogs battled back in the top of the fifth to score two runs and make the score 11-5.

In the circle, Kailyn Packard got the ball to start for the Panthers. Packard went one inning giving three earned runs on three hits, walked three and struck out one. Samantha Heyer came in to relieve Packard in the top of the second and would finish the game. Heyer went five innings giving up two earned runs on three hits, walked two and struck out two

At the plate, Kamryn Shaffer and Adara Opiola led the way for the Panthers. Shaffer went 2-for-4 with one home run, one double, six RBI's, and scored one run. Opiola went 3-for-5 with four RBI's, scored one run and hit the game winning single that scored Parks and Bunch to end the game in the bottom of the sixth. Brooke Snider and Madison Parks each recorded two hits a piece as well.

Up Next
The Panthers are back in action May. 1-2 when they travel to Normal, Illinois to play against the Redbirds of Illinois State. Two games will take place on Saturday with the start times of 12:00 pm and 2:30 pm CT. Sunday's game will start at 11:00 am CT.
