Panther Softball Goes 1-1 Against Illinois State

Normal, Illinois – UNI Softball finished 1-1 on Saturday, May 1^st losing against Illinois State 5-4 in game one and winning 9-1 in game two to start the weekend series.

Game 1 | UNI 4, Illinois State 5
The Panthers scored four runs on five hits and committed four errors.

In the circle, Samantha Heyer got the ball to start for the Panthers. Heyer went 5.1 innings giving up six hits, three earned runs, struck out seven and walked three. Erica Oler came in to relieve Heyer in the 6^th inning and got the loss. Oler went 2/3 of an inning giving up on hit, one earned run, and walked two.

On the offensive side the Panthers found a spark from Sammey Bunch and Kamryn Shaffer. Bunch went 2-for-4 with two home runs, three RBI's, and scored two runs. Shaffer also came up big for the Panthers going 1-for-3 with one home run, one RBI and scored one run. Adara Opiola also came up big for the Panthers going 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

The Panthers scored nine runs on ten hits and committed no errors to beat the Redbirds in game two.

On the offensive side, The Panthers were led by Brooke Snider and Kamryn Shaffer. Snider went 2-for-3 with one RBI, scored two runs and was walked once. Shaffer went 1-for-2 with three RBI's and was hit by pitch.
