UNI Softball Can't Complete Rally At Illinois State

NORMAL, Illinois – UNI softball dropped the series finale against the Illinois State Redbirds on Sunday, 6-5.
Northern Iowa at Illinois State | Final Score – L, 6-5
Emma Olejniczak started the game for UNI but was unable to record an out after walking the first two batters. Both of the runners that Olejniczak put on came around to score.
Jaclyn Spencer came into the game in relief of Olejniczak and pitched three innings. Spencer walked two and gave up three base hits while allowing two runs to score.
Brooke Craig allowed two earned runs on four hits and no walks in her three innings on the mound. Craig also struck out four batters.
After being down by two runs, Courtney Krodinger drove in the first run of the game for the Panthers with a bases loaded walk in the top of the third inning.
In the top of the fourth, Brittney Krodinger lined a shot over the left field fence for a two-run home run, for her sixth long ball of the season. Her sister Courtney also had a two-run home run in the top of the fifth, which was her fourth of the year.
Sammey Bunch hit her league-leading 13th home run of the season in the top of the seventh to bring the Panthers within one run. It was her fifth straight game with a home run, and she has hit one in three consecutive game days.
UP NEXT –
The Panthers travel to Des Moines, Iowa for a road doubleheader with the Drake Bulldogs on Tuesday, April 9. The team returns home for a three-game series with the Valparaiso Crusaders on April 13-14.
