CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — D1Softball.com announced its 2026 softball season awards, with its final award of the season, Freshman All-American, coming out on Thursday morning. After a stellar performance for the Panthers, freshman designated player Brynn Acton was named to the D1Softball.com Freshman All-American Second Team. Acton joins Alexis Pupillo as the only two players in program history to be named to the Freshman All-American Team. Pupillo was named to the First Team as a catcher in 2023.
Acton's season saw the freshman out of Winterset High School claim MVC Player of the Week honors once and Freshman of the Week honors twice. The designated player also received national honors after a week in which she hit six home runs in four matchups, including three in one game, two in an inning, and a grand slam. Acton led all freshmen in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) with 19 home runs, second out of all players in the MVC behind teammate Kate Lappe. She hit three grand slams on the season and led UNI and the Valley with 58 RBIs.
