UNI Softball Takes on MVC Leading Drake

GAME NOTES
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – UNI softball will look to halt a three-game losing streak to the Drake Bulldogs as the team heads to Des Moines on Tuesday, April 9 for a conference doubleheader.
The first game of the doubleheader is set for a 4:00 p.m. first pitch time, with the second game to follow immediately after.
Against Drake, UNI is 70-52 in the all-time series. The last UNI victory over Drake came in 2017, in a 5-2 effort at home. Before being swept by the Bulldogs in three games last season, the Panthers had won six straight head-to-head matchups. Under head coach Ryan Jacobs, the team is 15-16 against Drake. When playing in Des Moines under Jacobs, UNI is 5-6 against Drake.
Sammey Bunch has hit a home run in five consecutive games, and three consecutive game days. Bunch's 13 home runs this season leads the Missouri Valley, and she is one home run short of tying the UNI single-season record, with 17 games left this season.
Jaclyn Spencer has won three consecutive starts against conference opponents. In 19 innings on the mound against MVC teams, Spencer is 3-0 and has allowed three runs while striking out 16 batters.
Following their doubleheader against Drake, the Panthers return home for a three-game series with the Valparaiso Crusaders. The two teams will play a Saturday doubleheader on April 13, starting at 12:00 p.m., and an 11:00 a.m. game on Sunday to close out the series.
