Softball Goes 2-0 Against Missouri State

SPRINGFIELD, Missouri - UNI softball wins a pair of games in Springfield against the Bears of Missouri State by a score of 2-0 and 6-3.
Northern Iowa vs. Missouri State | Final Score - W, 2-0
Emma Olejniczak was the starting pitcher for the Panthers in game one of the series. Olejniczak pitched through four innings allowing six hits, no walks, and zero runs scored.
Erica Oler came in to pitch in the fifth inning. Oler allowed no runs to cross the plate while allowing three hits and three walks.
The Panthers scored the first run of the game in the fifth inning. It came on an Ashley Chesser home run to left field. That home run gave the Panthers the lead going into the bottom of the fifth inning.
The Missouri State Bears had 12 runners left on base. The Panthers were able to escape all threats made by the Bears including a bases loaded situation in the bottom of the sixth.
The Panthers added an insurance run in the top of the seventh. Kamryn Shaffer hit a single where she reached third base after the ball went through the right fielder's legs. Shaffer later then scored on an error by the first basemen.
Missouri State put three base runners on in the bottom of the seventh. Oler got out of the inning with a force out at third base and a strikeout.

Jaclyn Spencer went the distance in game two of the double header, lasting all 7 innings. Spencer gave up four hits, walked two, and struck out five batters.
The Panthers scored a run in the first inning to jump out in front early. Missouri State answered in the bottom of the second to take the lead. UNI quickly answers the next inning.
A pair of back to back singles by Olivia Brooks and Adara Opiola turns into a pair of runs after a Missouri State error and a deep sacrifice fly to left field by Courtney Krodinger.
Sammey Bunch and Olivia Brooks produced 4 of the 8 hits. The Panthers were up 4-2 through most of the game until Bunch hit a two run home run which drove in Brooks to give UNI the four run lead into the bottom of the sixth inning.
Missouri State threatened in the bottom of the seventh inning with one run but was ended by back to back ground outs to Sammey Bunch at shortstop.
