UNI Track and Field Opens Season at Jimmy Grant Invite

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The UNI track team opens the indoor season Saturday, Dec. 14, at the Jimmy Grant Invite at the University of Iowa Recreation Building in Iowa City.
The Panther men's team were picked second and the women's team were picked fourth in the Missouri Valley Conference preseason indoor track and field poll released last week.
The UNI men return key contributors from the last year's team. Including outdoor 400-hurdle All-American Jacob Smith and three members of the quartet that finished first in the MVC 400-meter relay.
Panther indoor shot put record holder Keegan Tritle, as well as outdoor national shot put championship qualifier Darius King and MVC long jump silver medalist Cade Kirkpatrick also return for the Panther men.
The UNI women return pentathlon silver medalist Brooke Lorenz, 60-meter bronze medalist Patrice Watson and Katie Nimrod who lead UNI to a second-place finish in the distance medley relay.
Field events begin at 9 a.m., jump events begin at 1 p.m. and running events begin at 4:30 p.m.
