UNI Track and Field Dominates Home Meet

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – UNI track and field dominated the Jack Jennett Open, racking up 15 event wins and 44 top-three finishes Friday at the UNI-Dome.
Maddie McCalla improved her MVC-best time in the 400-meter dash with an adjusted time of 55.54 seconds for a first-place finish. Lauren Beauchamp won the pole vault with a vault of 12 feet, 5.5 inches, a personal best and an inch above her previous best mark of 12-4.5 which she hit last week at NDSU. She remains second in the MVC.
Katie Cross finished first in the long jump with a leap of 18-4.25, her PR and good enough for eighth in the MVC currently. McKayla Cole dominated the 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:59.78, her best time of the season. She is now ranked fourth in the MVC.
On the men's side, Cam Bauer set a PR in the pole vault with a vault of 14-11 for the win, which is good enough for the eighth-best mark in the MVC. Cade Kirkpatrick won the long jump with a mark of 23-11.5, which is currently second in the league.
Other event winners were; Emily Voss (200-meter dash), Katie Nimrod (800-meter run), Hannah Schau (60-meter hurdles), The women's 4x400, Alanna Nietart (weight throw), Connor Blough (200-meter dash), Bryce Newcomb (400-meter dash), Ben Ahlrichs (mile run) and Darius King (shot put).
Ryan Van Baale took second in the 60-meter dash but finished with a PR time of 6.97, which is the third-fastest time in the MVC this season.
There were no team scores.

The Panthers travel to Iowa City Saturday to take on the field at the Black and Gold Premier. The field events start at 11 a.m., and the running events begin at 2:35.
