Panther Open Set for Saturday

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa. – With 2018 in full swing, the Northern Iowa track and field program will host the Panther Open inside the UNI-Dome on Saturday.
Field events will begin at 11a.m. CT, with track competition beginning at 12 p.m. CT and lasting through the early afternoon. For a full schedule, visit www.UNIPanthers.com or visit here.
Joining UNI for Saturday's Panther Open will be: Graceland, Hannibal LaGrance, Hawkeye Community College and Western Illinois. For more information on the Panther Open, visit the meet homepage here.
UNI will field 43 athletes on the men's side, while 42 Panthers on the women's side will compete in Saturday's event.
Last time out, nine Panthers made their collegiate debuts at the Cyclone Duals on Dec. 8, 2017 as UNI placed first in six events.
Connor Ham led the men, after winning the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.96 and placing second in the 60-meter hurdlers after clocking an 8.18. All-in-all, the Panther men had six runner-ups as Dylan Eigenberger (Mile; 4:21.33), Cade Kirkpatrick (Long jump; 22-10.00), Hunter Lavallee (800-meter run;1:51.94) and Isaac Holtz (Weight throw; 58-01.00 & shot put; 56-01.25) all finished with second-place showings.
On the women's side, four Panthers took events with Bell (200-meter dash; 25.36), Blue (60-meter dash; 7.71), Rath (High jump; 5-05.00) and Slight (800-meter run; 2:17.13) all opening the season with victories. Six Panthers on the women's side were runner-ups as Bell (60-meter dash; 7.80), Katie Cross (Long jump; 17-04.00), Lauren Frederick (60-meter hurdles; 9.19), Jolissa Kriegel (400-meter dash; 58.87), Sarah Pate (Weight throw; 61-00.25) and Marissa Ward (High jump; 5-03.00) each placed second.

Admission to Saturday's open will be free to the public.
Up Next
The Panthers will hit the road next weekend for the Jim Emmerich/Alumni Invite at South Dakota State. Action is set to begin at noon from Brookings, South Dakota.
