Middle Distance Crew Shines At Meyo Invite

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The University of Northern Iowa middle distance crew wrapped up competition at the Meyo Invitational today, coming away with several top performances.
The day started in the women's mile, with Ashley Norem placing third in her heat. The junior finished with a personal-best time of 4:55.08, ranking her fifth in the Valley this season and No. 3 all-time in program history.
In the men's 800 meters, Luke Johnston posted a huge indoor personal-best on the day, running a time of 1:50.77. He claimed a ninth place finish overall out of 51 competitors for the fastest time in the Valley coming into this weekend.
Jordan Pingel and Colynn Black also recorded career-bests in the 800 meters at the Meyo Invitational. Black finished second in his heat with a time of 1:52.95 while Pingel was third in his heat with a time of 1:51.09, both finishing inside the top-20.
On the women's side, Lyndsie Schinkel finished second in her heat of the women's 800 meters, coming across the finish line in 2:11.37. Lindsey Kite also competed in the 800 meters today, finishing with a strong time of 2:12.32, finishing in the top-25 out of 61 runners.
The Panthers will return to action Feb. 10 when they take on the Iowa State Classic while a select few competitors will head to Fayetteville, Ark. for the Tyson Invitational.
