Panthers Set To Split Weekend At Meyo and Nebraska Invites

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The University of Northern Iowa track and field program will split between the Nebraska Invitational and the Meyo Invitational this weekend, with both meets running Feb. 5-6.
UNI is taking 10 athletes and the men's 4X400 meter relay team to Lincoln, Neb. while three middle distance and distance runners will take on the Meyo Invitational. Kelsey Kirchoff and Trai Bunch will tackle the 3,000 meter run in South Bend while Amber Clock will compete in the women's 800 meters.
Both Bunch and Kirchoff are ranked in the top-15 in the Missouri Valley this season in the 3K, with Kirchoff running a PR time of 9:58.79 and Bunch adding a personal-best of 8:30.83 at the Big 4 Duals. Clock will enter the meet leading the MVC in the women's 800, running a season-best time of 2:10.65.
At the Nebraska Invitational, Brette Correy and Ashley Norem will run the mile while Bailey Wetherell will take on the men's race. Dylan Eigenberger will also be taking part in the middle distance events at the Nebraska Invite, competing in the men's 800 meters after running third fastest time in the Valley (1:53.39) at the Mark Messersmith Invitational.
Corey Hertz and Evan Long will both run in the men's 400 meter dashes. Hertz ran a career-best time of 48.87 at the Big 4 Duals while Long ran a PR of 48.98, placing them both in the top-10 in the MVC this season.
In the short sprints, Brandon Carnes will look to continue his streak in the 60 and 200 meter dashes in Lincoln, sitting at the top of the conference in both events. Daurice Fountain will round out the action on the track for the Panthers in the 60 meter hurdles after he posted a personal-best time of 8.11 at the Jack Jennett Invitational, ranking him sixth in the Valley.
Chaley Rath is set to compete for the first time this indoor season in the women's high jump after breaking the outdoor school record in the event in 2015 (5-10.50). Her indoor personal-best of 5-8.50 ranks her second all-time at UNI.
Paige Knodle will be on of 17 athletes competing in the pentathlon, taking on competitors from Big 12, SEC, MVC and the Pac-12. The Byron, Ill. native is ranked third all-time at UNI after her PR point total of 3,903 in 2014.
The Nebraska Invitational will kick off at 11:30 a.m. on Friday with the multi-events, while the Meyo Invitational will start at 2:45 p.m. with field events.
